Dutch court OKs Croatian extradition request

The Supreme Court authorised the Dutch government earlier this week to extradite to Croatia a man convicted there for war crimes, the Public Prosecutor announced on Friday.

Security and Justice Minister Ivo Opstelten now has to decide whether to grant the extradition request Croatia submitted in 2007. The man in question was convicted in Croatia in 2004 for committing war crimes during the Balkan War in 1995. In 2009 a court in the Dutch town of Leeuwarden ruled that the extradition request lacked a legal foundation.
