The designer who defined the look of the Dutch monarch Queen Beatrix has died.
Theresia Vreugdenhil was largely responsible for Queen Beatrix’s wardrobe for more than forty years, from 1965 until her retirement in 2007. She designed the gown Beatrix wore at her coronation and was also responsible for the restoration of the Dutch royal robes.
In 1999, Vreugdenhil was honoured with the Cross of Merit in the Order of Oranje-Nassau. Her death last week at the age of 82 was announced by her family at the weekend.
