Footballer Clarence Seedorf received a knighthood on Thursday at the residence of the Dutch ambassador in Rome. Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi was in attendance. Berlusconi is the chairman of Seedorf's club AC Milan.

Clarence Seedorf was made a Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau for his successful sporting career and for the charitable work of his Champions for Children fund, which supports educational projects in various countries.

35-year-old Seedorf is the only Dutch player to have won the Champions League four times.
