Obama backs same sex marriage

President Barack Obama said for the first time in an interview Wednesday that same sex couples should be able to get married, in a high-stakes intervention into a debate roiling US politics.

"For me, personally, it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married," Obama said in an interview with ABC News.
